Patricia Brown Holmes, leader of Schiff Hardin's White Collar Crime and Corporate Compliance Group, will speak at the "Beyond Legal: A Business Approach to Corporate Governance" conference presented by the American Bar Association's (ABA) Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section. Schiff Hardin is a proud Gold Sponsor of the conference, which is scheduled for May 8-9 at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers in New York City.

Ms. Holmes' session is "Corporate Investigations: Deal or No Deal — Is There Really a Choice?" This session will feature panel members with extensive SEC, general counsel and outside advisor experience who will examine approaches for addressing challenges, including general counsel's need for independence during an internal investigation while simultaneously keeping the board informed of constantly changing developments, and how to satisfy the expectations of government regulators and possible responses to a regulator's request that the corporation waive the attorney-client privilege.

The core theme of the Beyond Legal: A Business Approach to Corporate Governance conference continues to be the nature of the relationship among responsible corporate behavior, corporate profitability and litigation risk. Participants in thought-provoking panels will discuss how various approaches to structuring internal processes may affect this relationship.
