Position Description

POSITION TITLE: Professional Personnel Department Assistant
GROUP/DEPARTMENT: Human Resources
POSITION REPORTS TO: Manager of Professional Development and Diversity
DATE: November 2008

BASIC FUNCTION: Attorney records management.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administers attorney departure process:  exit memo and procedures, confirms exit interviews with HR and Chair of Professional Personnel Committee or Firm’s General Counsel and Executive Director.
  • Maintains SH attorney files.
  • Completes surveys and questionnaires and assists in preparation of statistical information as requested.
  • Maintains and assists in updating new hire attorney orientation book.
  • Administers Firmwide attorney announcements (i.e. arrivals, departures, practice group memberships, etc.).
  • Assists with planning Professional Personnel and Diversity Committee meetings, and assists with administrative Committee projects as needed.
  • Maintains the Annual Hire Letter Binders and Lateral Partner Hire Binders for the Manager of Professional Development and Diversity and the Managing Partner.
  • Maintains the Attorney Contract Binder and distributes information appropriately.
  • Maintains practice group lists and attrition spreadsheet.
  • Other duties and projects as needed.

COMMENTS: Two plus years experience working in large law firm.  Experience with attorney evaluation process preferred.  Skilled in working with Word, Excel, and Access. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Bachelor degree from accredited four-year college or university preferred. Willingness to work overtime.
