A. Paul Heeringa concentrates his practice in a wide range of general civil litigation, including:

  • Consumer class actions
  • Insurance and reinsurance disputes
  • Fraud, breach of contract, and related commercial claims
  • Tort and products liability cases
  • Intellectual property litigation
  • Appellate matters

He also has extensive experience in discovery matters, with a particular emphasis on electronic discovery and analysis.

Pro Bono Activities

His pro bono work includes the American Bar Association Death Penalty Project. He also works extensively with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services (CVLS) representing various indigent clients in divorce cases.

Previous Experience

Prior to joining Schiff Hardin, Mr. Heeringa worked for four other nationally-recognized Chicago-based law firms in various paralegal and information technology positions providing legal, technical and litigation support, including management of a nationwide patent and trademark database system.
