Donald J. Kreger concentrates his practice in the area of public law including real estate acquisition and related litigation, public finance, complex litigation, and representation of various local governmental entities.

Mr. Kreger's public law practice has included representation of cities, villages, park districts, and other government instrumentalities.

He has extensive litigation experience in land use, eminent domain and other means whereby municipalities and state government agencies acquire real estate. He also has experience in all aspects of governmental litigation.

Mr. Kreger's experience includes:

  • Representing developers, cable companies and cellular providers before regulatory agencies and in court with respect to zoning and land use
  • Developing an intergovernmental agreement between municipalities to acquire and operate an airport
  • Successfully litigating various public law matters, including annexation and boundary disputes among municipalities and various private parties
  • Obtaining a precedent-setting Supreme Court ruling establishing the right of municipalities to contest zoning and land use decisions of adjacent municipalities
  • Persuading a Circuit Court judge to reverse a previous ruling the judge had made declaring invalid certain tax levies extended by a myriad of park districts
  • Successfully defending a municipality in a major antitrust matter
