Robin E. Remis

Partner


Robin E. Remis represents electric power and natural gas utility clients before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), appellate courts and state regulatory commissions. She also advises clients on electric industry restructuring as well as matters related to the operation of ISOs and other regional transmission organizations, including market design and development.

Ms. Remis negotiates energy transactions, including contracts involving traditional as well as renewable energy resources. In addition, she has assisted municipalities seeking to form municipal electric companies and has acted as co-counsel in stranded cost litigation before both state and federal agencies. Earlier in her career, she served as an attorney-advisor at the FERC's Office of Administrative Law Judges.

Ms. Remis is actively involved in various legal and civic groups. This includes service on the Leadership Committee for the international conference, "Cooperation for Energy Independence of Democracies in the 21st Century."

Experience

  • ISO New England before FERC in the design and development of the associated market rules for the New England capacity and ancillary services markets
  • One of the top ten real estate investment trusts in the U.S. in the negotiation of energy supply contracts resulting in annual aggregate cost savings of almost 15% in six jurisdictions
  • A gaming casino in the negotiation of state-of-the-art thermal and retail power supply contracts in Atlantic City, New Jersey
  • Successful litigation against the Boston Edison Company on behalf of the Town of Concord, Massachusetts, in a precedent-setting case involving Boston Edison’s efforts to rewrite a contract
