Schiff Hardin LLP is pleased to rank #9 on the 2012 "Women in Equity Partnership" list by The National Law Journal and The American Lawyer magazine, based on percentage of women equity partners within the firm.
"We are proud to be among the nation's leading law firms in diversity. I believe it demonstrates Schiff Hardin's commitment to client service," said Ronald S. Safer, Schiff Hardin's Managing Partner and Diversity Committee member.
"A diverse team is a superior problem solving team. One only has to look at our women partners to see the wealth of talent they personify. They are among the finest lawyers in the country," added Mr. Safer.
In addition to this latest recognition, Schiff Hardin has received numerous awards and honors in 2012 for its initiatives involving diversity and women attorneys, including: "Best Law Firm in the Midwest" by Euromoney Legal Media Group's Women in Business Law Award; a "Top 100 Law Firm for Women" by MultiCultural Law magazine; and the prestigious Thomas L. Sager Award for the Midwest Region from the Minority Corporate Counsel Association.
"Schiff Hardin is truly committed to the hiring, promotion and retention of our women. In the 1970s we were one of the first law firms to have a woman on the executive committee. We established our Women's Networking Group long before it became typical for big law firms to do this," said Felice B. Rose, a Schiff Hardin partner and chair of the firm's Gender Diversity subcommittee.
"Thanks to the legacy of all the efforts of the firm's women equity partners, today we have an incredible group of women attorneys who are strongly supportive of one another. Our gender programming is innovative. When we lock arms, there is no stopping us from soaring higher. We won't stop pursuing the goal of being the #1 law firm in the country for women in the equity partnership," added Ms. Rose.
The "Women in Equity Partnership" list is based on 2011 data that was collected as part of The American Lawyer's 2012 NLJ 250/Am Law 200 survey.
