Vault has released its “Law Firm Rankings 2012: The Best Law 25 Firms For Diversity” which ranked Schiff Hardin LLP number 25. This honor comes immediately on the heels of two other similar awards: Equality of Illinois “Leading Law Firm For LGBT Workplace Equality” and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s “2011 Corporate Equality Index 100% Score,” based on LGBT workplace policies and benefits.

Vault’s diversity section includes separate categories for diversity as it relates to minorities, women, and gays and lesbians. To determine its “Best 25 Law Firms for Diversity,” Vault used a formula that weighed the three categories evenly for an overall diversity ranking, which ranked Schiff Hardin at number 25 on the survey.

"We are a stronger and better law firm in every way because of the progress we have made in becoming a more diverse firm,” explains Ronald S. Safer, Schiff Hardin’s Managing Partner. “Diverse attorneys lead this firm. A number of our practice group leaders, client service teams and coordinating partners are diverse attorneys. Our success in this area is attributable not to the mere presence of the diverse attorneys at this firm, but to their tireless efforts to grow the firm and promote diversity.”

Mr. Safer also attributes Schiff Hardin’s diversity successes to the firm’s longstanding Diversity Committee, which is co-chaired by partners Patricia Brown Holmes and Marci A. Eisenstein.
