Schiff Hardin is proud to announce that
Renee Cipriano, a partner in the
Environmental,
Energy and Public Utilities,
Public Law and
Sustainable Energy and Climate Change groups, has been appointed to Illinois' new Carbon Capture and Sequestration Legislation Commission by Illinois Senate President John J. Cullerton. The Commission was created by legislation passed during the Illinois General Assembly's spring session and is responsible for filing with the General Assembly a Report no later than December 31, 2010 on "all issues deemed appropriate to carbon capture and sequestration legislation." In addition to considering issues like ownership and liability for the release of carbon dioxide emissions, the Commission will also be looking at, among other things, the procedures and safeguards for transportation of carbon dioxide and the construction of pipeline systems. The Commission will be chaired by the Director of the Illinois Power Agency.
