Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Update - DOL Publishes Revised USERRA Notice
As indicated in our Alerts dated February 11, 2005 and May 16, 2005, the Veterans Benefits Improvement Act of 2004 amended the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), requiring employers to provide employees with a notice of their rights, benefits and obligations under USERRA. In February of 2005, the Department of Labor issued an interim rule that included the text of the notice and a downloadable poster that satisfied the applicable notice requirements. In December of 2005, the Department of Labor issued a final rule and published a revised poster. That poster can be downloaded at www.dol.gov/elaws/userra.htm. The notice requirements are currently in effect. However, you have until January 18, 2006 to post the new poster. The notice requirements can be satisfied by posting where employers customarily place employee notices. * * * * |
